Summagon Digital

Most math games I've tried with my students are the same. A cheerful character, a balloon that pops when you get the answer right, and a child who's lost interest after ten minutes. I wanted to make something different.

Summagon started as a physical card game. Cards, dice, a bit of luck and a fair amount of mental math. At my school, the students play it both in lessons and after school, and they ask for it themselves. Not to "practice math", but because they want to play. The math comes along for free.

Summagon Digital is the next step: the same idea, but as a real adventure. The child sets out into a world where the magic has begun to fade, faces opponents in duels with cards and dice, and solves clever problems to move forward. The math isn't a pause between levels. It's how you make progress.

And because it's me who made it, not a big studio living off ads: one price, no in-app purchases, no ads, nothing peeking at your child's data. Everything runs on your device. Full stop.

Summagon Digital is in active development. Images and content may change before release.

Safe for kids to play

I'm a parent and a teacher myself, so I know what people worry about. That's why there are no surprises in Summagon Digital. You pay once, and the game is yours. No purchases inside the app, no ads, no subscription ticking away. No accounts to create, no logins, no cloud storage. Everything runs on the device, so nothing about your child is sent anywhere.

Because no data is collected, no accounts are created, and nothing leaves the device, neither parents nor schools have to worry about where a child's information ends up. That keeps things simple from a data protection standpoint too.

  • One price, paid once. No hidden costs.
  • No ads, no in-app purchases.
  • No accounts, no data collection, works offline.
  • Works on tablets and phones, including school tablets.

Math and logic, without it feeling like school

This is the whole point for me. In Summagon Digital, the child calculates and reasons to move forward in the adventure, not because a teacher tells them to. The game has several clever problems that train mental math and logical thinking, and they sit right in the middle of the story. The child solves them to open a lock or get past an obstacle, not to fill in the right box.

The math suits roughly the upper primary years, around 9 to 12 years old. And because the challenges are part of the game, the child actually wants to solve them. That's the difference.

Repetition is what makes the tables stick. Summagon Digital lets the child work through the same kinds of problems again and again without it getting boring, because every duel is new. That's how multiplication gets cemented and automated, until the child no longer needs to stop and think.

A world to explore

Summagon is set in a fantasy world where the magic has begun to fade, and the player carries the hope forward. The cards are shards: small windows into ancient souls. The shards are the hope in the dark.

The journey moves through three parts, each with its own feel:

  • The forest. A warm, earthy beginning.
  • The icebergs. Colder and tougher, more about finding your way through.
  • The tower. A patterned, more mechanical end to the journey.

Cards, dice and tactics

A duel in Summagon is built on both cards and dice. You play cards that combine a value, the card multiplied by a dice roll, with different effects. Some cards crush the opponent's attack, others steal or deal damage over time. You have limited health and a deck to improve along the way, so it's about choosing the right card at the right moment. Tactics more than luck.

Along the way you visit shops and villages, face both regular opponents and bosses, and build out your deck.

For those who want more

Beyond the adventure, there's an Arena mode for the child who gets hooked and wants to keep going. An extra layer to test yourself against, in a slightly different form.
