Summagon Digital

An educational math game that actually teaches the child something

There are countless "educational" apps out there. My experience, after years in the classroom, is that most of them teach the child one thing very well: to click fast to get the next reward. The math itself rarely sticks.

I made Summagon Digital so the learning would stick. Not because it looks educational, but because the child actually thinks.

Why a game teaches better than a worksheet

When I let my students play Summagon, something happens that rarely happens with a regular math worksheet. They want to keep going. And a child who wants to keep going calculates more, tries more and dares to get it wrong without giving up. That's where the learning happens, not in the correct box, but in all the attempts along the way.

The math isn't glued on top of the game. It's how you play.

What the child actually practices

Summagon Digital trains three things, all woven into the adventure:

  • Multiplication. The tables are the core. In the duels, the child multiplies card value by dice roll to succeed, again and again, until it sticks.
  • Addition. Comes in along the way, completely naturally, as the game grows.
  • Logical thinking. Between battles there are clever problems to solve, which train reasoning and problem solving.

Three skills, one game, and none of it feels like homework.

Multiplication isn't a skill you learn once. It has to be drilled in, and repetition is what does the job. Because Summagon Digital lets the child face the same type of problem again and again without it feeling like nagging, the tables get cemented and automated in the background, until the child simply knows.

Made by a teacher, not a marketing department

I am a teacher and built this myself. That means I thought about how children actually learn, not about how to get them to watch the most ads. The game works just as well at the kitchen table at home as on a school tablet.

Safe for both home and school

You pay once, then the game is yours. No ads, no in-app purchases, no subscription. It needs no account and works offline, which makes it easy to use in the classroom where logins otherwise often cause trouble.
